Poetry Reading: Floyd Skloot--VANCOUVER

Poetry lovers from Oregon, Washington and beyond know that Floyd Skloot is no stranger to winning awards. The memoir writer and poet has captured two Oregon Book Awards, three Pushcart Prizes and was a finalist for the Barnes & Noble Discover New Writers series. He recently won another big prize - the 2009 Pacific Northwest Book Award in Poetry for his Selected Poems: 1970-2005. Past winners of the Pacific Northwest Book Award include Lauren Kessler and Sherman Alexie.

Barnes & Noble Vancouver is fortunate to host Floyd Skloot as he highlights his new book, Snow’s Music: Poems. He will read from Snow’s Music and sign copies starting at 7 pm on Wednesday, March 11th. There will also be a question-and-answer discussion, lots of free coffee, and an open mic for anyone in attendance.

Skloot lives in Portland, Oregon, with his wife, Beverly Hallberg, a master gardener and landscape painter whose artwork graces the covers of Floyd's books Approximately Paradise, The End of Dreams, Selected Poems: 1970-2005, and The Snow's Music.

Barnes & Noble Vancouver is located at 7700 NE Fourth Plain Blvd., easily reached from both major highways and also SR 500.
