Thornton Writer Residency
Two 14 week residencies, including stipends of $12,000 each, at Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, Virginia are awarded annually to a fiction writer for the Fall term and a poet for the Spring term.
Creative nonfiction writers, screenwriters, playwrights, and mixed-genre writers will also be considered either term. The writer-in-residence will teach a three-credit writing workshop, present a public reading, and visit a small number of classes. The residency includes housing, some meals, and roundtrip travel expenses. To apply, applicants should submit a cover letter, a published book(returned upon completion of review), evidence of successful teaching, a curriculum vita, and names and contact information for three references by May 15th for the Fall term and July 15th for the Spring term.
